Do you believe that the American Idol results always reflect the choice of the viewers?

On May 20, 2009 Ryan Seacrest announced the winner of American Idol. How did Kris Allen beat Adam Lambert? Everyone from the data geeks to the gamblers predicted a Lambert win. It started to make sense when the Arkansas Gazette and then the New York Times broke a small part of the story; Kris had help from the American Idol corporate sponsor and text vote counter AT&T. AT&T helped generate more then 38 million votes from Arkansas. As quickly as this story erupted, it was dropped when AT&T, FOX and American Idol claimed that the vote was fair, accurate and independently verified by Telescope Inc. Questions were never answered about the legitimacy of power texting or the manner in which votes are counted or disregarded. Not one news outlet challenged the denial that AT&T acted inappropriately even while many doubted the fairness of this victory.

Unsatisfied with the official story, frustrated that no one in the mainstream media would investigate and unencumbered by any corporate interests, I took on the task that no other journalist would. I set out to fully investigate the American Idol voting system. I wanted to know what really happened in Season 8.

What I discover is the shocking truth about how AT&T and American Idol are deceiving and manipulating the American public for profit and how one state gamed the flawed voting system. American Idol Vote Scam identifies the rogue AT&T executive who worked with politicians and business leaders in Arkansas to generate 38 million votes on the night of the final causing the biggest upset in the history of American idol.

There is much more to the story. It was not just AT&T that played a part in Allen’s win but a state full of people from the Governor to the Speaker of the House. Business leaders, politicians, churches, universities, the local media, flying cows and toad Toad Suck Queens all came together for the perfect storm that mowed down the contestants of Season 8 one by one until Kris was the last man standing.

How did American Idol allow Kris Allen to have a 30 person marketing team, sell thousands of shirts for his family’s traveling expenses, line up corporate sponsors, give away prizes for votes, and have AT&T on hand to give away promotional phones lend out phones and teach power texting? Why did AT&T encourage the improper use of Go Phones for three additional hours of voting? Why did the local Fox station turn into a Kris Allen fan site? There was such an unfair advantage created in Arkansas it will make your head spin. Never in the history of American Idol had the process been so corrupted. What motivated this state to throw away all standards of fairness? Was it state pride? Homophobia? Or was it the self-serving interest of the businesses and politicians? This should not be allowed to happen again?

American Idol has become a voting contest not a singing contest. How should this flawed voting system be changed? American Idol Vote Scam answers the questions that no one else would.
